BLK WinterFest returns for a 5th year as the largest Black-focused winter sports initiative in Quebec

Montréal, QC, November 4, 2026 Curated by Routes to Rootz, BLK WinterFest (BWF) returns for its 5th edition with a three-mountain ski and snowboard tour on January 31, February 13, and February 27–28, 2027, at Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort, Les Sommets, and Ski Montcalm.
BLK WinterFest is the largest Black-focused winter sports initiative in Quebec. Since its launch, the festival has welcomed more than 1,000 participants, proving what its founders set out to prove: Black communities want a place on the slopes. Now the work is making sure that place stays within reach.
"BLK WinterFest is about more than learning to ski or snowboard, it's a movement," says Jamillah Jean, Executive Director of Routes to Rootz, and Founder of BLK WinterFest. "When we see ourselves represented in winter sports, we begin to rewrite the story of who the outdoors is for. BLK WinterFest is that invitation to take up space, experience joy, and move freely, together."
THREE MOUNTAINS. ONE MOVEMENT.
For 2027, BWF expands into a three-stop tour: Mont-Tremblant, Les Sommets, and Ski Montcalm. In 2026, cost overtook representation as the top barrier participants named to getting outdoors, so tickets are now built in tiers, from lift pass only to a full package with lift pass, rental equipment, and a lesson with certified instructors. Transport from Montréal and lunch are sold as add-ons, and payment plans are available.
